Support NSCC grad’s journey to WorldSkills in France
Olivia Sewell (Culinary Management ‘23) will be the first Nova Scotian and NSCC alumni to represent Canada in Cooking at the WorldSkills competition taking place in Lyon, France in September 2024. This tremendous achievement will see her compete against the best young chefs from over 50 countries.
NSCC and our alumni community are cheering Olivia on as she prepares to compete, travelling to Lyon as one of 28 members of WorldSkills Team Canada. As part of her training, Olivia will spend at least two hours each week practicing in the kitchens at NSCC Akerley Campus and will travel to Toronto, Ontario, where she will stage as a cook for a week at Alo, a Michelin star restaurant.
She’ll have the support of a dedicated team including Chef Johnathan Canning (CCEDP ’15) as her lead trainer and Chef Sean Kettley (CCEDP ’03), Canada’s WorldSkills Expert for Cooking to help her prepare for the intense competition.
If you’d like to support Olivia on her journey to WorldSkills, you can make a gift through the donation form below. Funds raised will help Olivia and her team cover expenses like training supplies and travel.
Thank you!
