David Dewey, CMA, CPA
David Dewey loved NSCC. As the dedicated Director of Finance and Controller for the past 20 years, David was the backbone of the department and contributed to many achievements during his tenure. David wasn’t just an employee, he was an amazing colleague and friend. He was also a very proud graduate of the Pictou Campus (formerly Pictou Vocational School) in Electronics, a program that made him our “go-to” guy for repairs on everything.
Not only did he show excellence and dedication in his work and to our community, he was simply a remarkable person - helping anyone with anything from budgets to lawn mowers. David was also passionate about patrolling Martock’s ski hills and crafting one-of-a-kind pieces in his home woodworking shop. Above all, he was an incredible father to Benjamin and Kaitlyn and husband to Krista.
If one word could describe David (which it can’t, because he was too awesome), it would be integrity. He was loyal, honest and kind to a fault - no ask was ever too much.
The College is setting up this award to honour these wonderful qualities that David Dewey embodied and to allow David to keep helping students who strive to know more, Dewey more, be more.
